DIGITAL DAYS

"Thank you both once again for today's outing; you clearly put a lot of thought and effort into preparing for it. I am sure that we all learnt something, I know I did". David Harrop

Landscape Photography 1

Date: 27 September 2008
Price: £25
A full day event for everyone who loves being out and about with a camera in the Yorkshire Dales. The day will be based around Colt Park, in the Ingleborough National Nature Reserve.

The day will begin with an overview of landscape photography and of the settings used to gain the best results from your camera. The morning session will be based around the variety of habitats to be found around Colt Park - these include Limestone pavement, ancient woodland, and (in season) restored hay meadows.

In the afternoon we will explore Ribblehead quarry and its surroundings. This will be a short walk, some 1.5 miles (2.5 km), exploring an area of limestone pavements, taking in the disused quarry which is being reclaimed by nature, and visiting a Viking age settlement.

The walking is not particularly demanding, but can be rough and boggy so stout footwear is a must. The Ribblehead Quarry walk includes sections of rough stony ground, with steep unfenced cliff faces and several deep ponds within the quarry.

Becks & Waterfalls

Date: 11 October 2008
Price: £10
Falling, flowing or standing, water is a favourite subject for many photographers but it can be tricky to capture it in all its glory.

This is an afternoon walk, suitable for beginners and more experienced enthusiasts alike, visiting the area between Malham village and Goredale. We will explore different ways of taking pictures of water in motion, be it freezing the droplets in mid-air, or using the camera to blur the movement creating more abstract and sometimes quite ethereal images and will also look at some of the painterly effects that can be achieved by photographing ripples and reflections and looking down into the water itself … …the scope is endless.

We'll also look at the effect of a couple of useful camera filters - and we'll even have a waterproof camera for you to use on the day!
